Deep Dale is close to the village of King Sterndale and is much favoured by climbers due to its many limestone buttresses and caves. The dale has a small stream and footpath, and abounds with many species of wild flowers, notably the Early Purple Orchid, Cowslip, Meadow Saxifrage, Scabious, Harebell and Knapweed. A cave in Deep Dale is thought to be the home of the Hob Hirst, a local hermit. The dale has a difficult, stony path, which meanders up and down the sides of the dale. There is a path from the dale to the church in King Sterndale. The main path, known as the Priests Way, continues into Horseshoe Dale.
