DOVEDALE :: Key Features
Dovedale is the name of the dale that runs between Mill Dale and Thorp. Running along its entire course is the exquisite River Dove that begins its journey on Axe Edge in the Pennines. There is an easy walking path along the Dovedale, which runs into Mill Dale. Wolfscote Dale and Beresford Dale, where it then joins the village of Hartington. Dovedale is popular with walkers of all ages, and hosts some of the finest examples of limestone scenery in the country.
Pictured above is Reynard's Cave which is found by looking for a large limestone archway high above the River Dove. A short steep path through the archway leads to Raynard's Cave and Raynard's Kitchen, part of a cluster of 3 small caves. The caves are accessible but do not extend very far.
