Pickering Tor is opposite to Ilam Rock, on the Derbyshire side of the River Dove. Rock climbers are frequently seen climbing its heights with ropes. There is a substantial cave below Pickering Tor. It is easily accessible and is often used by walkers to shelter from the rain. Below the tor is a wooden bridge across the River Dove, going straight to Ilam Cave and a footpath beyond.
